Coaching Kids Basketball Shooting Drill 15

Jab-Step/Cut for Backdoor Shot

For this basketball shooting drill you will need a chair, cone, or other obstacle as a reference point for your players.

P1 will begin high at the top of the key with ball

P2 will be positioned out on the wing around foul-line extended

P1 will start as of making a hard cut toward the ball.

Near chair, P1 will plant ball-side foot, and push ooff to come around the back side of chair as if going for a backdoor cut.

P2 will make a good pass, using either a lob or bounce pass to get P1 the ball around elbow.

P1 will raise outside hand to give passer a target, while calling for the ball as they go into the back door cut.

P1 will gather pass, then pivot or jump-stop to get squared up before taking shot.

P2 will move into rebounding position, get ball, and go to Line 1

P1 will move across lane to back of Line 2
