In this drill, you will need you, an assistant or another player to be located near the top of the key area to be the passer.
Players will form a line at the corner baseline, with balls.
On whistle, the first player in line will fire off a good hard pass to the coach, etc., then run out down the outside passing lane as fast as they can go.
When the player passes half court, the coach should make a long pass back to the player, who has to catch and gather the ball while at a dead run.
Player will put the ball on the floor, take the necessary amount of dribbles, driving the ball in hard for the score.
Note: If you should choose, you can place another passer around the other top of the key are on the other end and make this drill into a non-stop revolving drill, where the player will shoot first lay-up, get ball back, then pass out and go back to shoot on the beginning end. Also remember to not just practice this drill from the right handed side, but to work it from the left as well...They have to learn it sometime.
This drill is an excellent way to help your kids get into the swing of running the passing lanes, and being able to gather the ball and execute at game speeds.
