I have also heard this game go by the name of "knockout" or "Put Out". The one thing I can say for this game is that whileit does have some good qualities, such as learning to follow your shot, it also has one negative aspect that I have seen. That is the tendency of the kids playing to fall into the habit of rushing their shot at the free-throw line. If they will understand that it is better to take their time on this first shot this will probably not be an issue. For most it isn't.
To begin you will have all your players line up single file at the free-throw line. The first two kids in the line will havea ball.
The first player will shoot their free throw. If they make this shot they will retrieve the ball as quickly as possible and pass it to the next player in line without a ball, then move to the back of the line.
If a player misses the shot, they must follow shot, get the ball, and make a basket from anywhere before the other person hits their free throw or puts their own miss back in.
If a player misses and does not make the basket before the person behind them does then they have been "Got", and are out of the game.
Note: Players should do their best to get the ball back to the next shooter as fast as they can when they have made their shot.
This play will continue until there is only one player left.
The players on our teams have always loved playing this game. It should also be noted that we usually saved our games until the last of practice as a reward to the kids for a job well done.
