The Mikan Drill is credited to the late George Mikan, who created this drill in order to help basketball "big men" gain dexterity with their shooting hands while at the same time helping them work on rebounding technique.
Although this was the general objective of this drill it has become widely used by coaches and players at all levels of basketball to help perimeter players work on the timing, dexterity, and coordination of shooting a proper lay-up. This is why we have placed the Mikan Drill in this section of our site.
We could easily explain this drill for our viewers by a simple description, but felt that this video would do it more justice for players or coaches at the youth level. It is by far an excellent drill for learning many skills. We hope it is helpful to you!
